If we have direct knowledge that a particular course or school is superior or offers something that others don’t we’ll post about it accordingly. Beyond that it is up to you to ask around. A great way to start is by checking the Maritime Training & Licensing thread in the gCaptain Forum for the opinions of people who may have attended a particular training facility and/or course that you’re contemplating.

Important hint about good forum protocol: it shows poor form and laziness to simply ask your question (which has very likely been asked and answered many, many times before) without having first made a genuine attempt to check through the sometimes-multiple pages of the different threads to see if your question has, in fact, already been asked and answered. The more experienced contributors are giving freely of their own time to help others out, and this service comes free of charge to everyone. Isn’t the internet great?! So show a little appreciation by not wasting their time. That quickly leads to contributor burn-out and a lack of responsiveness from the very people whose advice you need the most. Better still, become a contributor yourself if you have anything worthwhile to contribute. Good luck…..
