Photo Of The Week – 3/22/10

Final approach to the Bayway barge piers: the Captain Dann falls in alongside Patapsco and the Double Skin 55, puts up a line, and stands by to assist on another Winter 2010 cold-n-windy. When handling light (empty) barges, skillful use of the additional weight and drag of the assist boat is often just as important as how their horsepower is deployed.

  1. Pretty far back on the barge, maybe fair current?

  2. Maybe a really slack line?

  3. Looks good to me.Don’t want to be too far forward.Might over power tug along side, even in clutch.Lite barge, don’t need too much assist.Must be policy deal.
